Why hygienic design matters
FDA, EHEDG and 3-A audits focus on crevice-free surfaces. Standard galvanized U-bolts trap product residue, harbour Listeria and Salmonella, and disqualify your line during periodic inspection.
NIBRO hygienic clamps eliminate sharp internal corners, expose all surfaces to CIP fluid flow, and use food-grade EPDM (FDA 21 CFR 177.2600) rubber linings that survive 90°C+ sanitiser cycles.
Material specification
• Body: AISI 316L (V4A, 1.4404) — pitting resistant in 5% NaOH and 3% nitric.
• Bolting: A4-70 stainless cap screws + DIN 985 stainless lock nuts.
• Liner: White EPDM, 70 Shore A, FDA + USP Class VI compliant.
• Surface: Pickled & passivated to ASTM A380, Ra ≤ 0.8 µm on the inner clamping face.
